Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the continuous extrusion of the composite rod material, by feeding the extrusion blank and the metallic strip as the forming blank into the apparatus provided with the grooved roll, its counter roll, and the stationary holder.
CONSTITUTION: The grooved roll 1 is circumferentially provided with an endless groove 2 possessing at its bottom two hollow spaces 6a, 6b, for holding the extrusion blanks 5; this grooved roll 1 is engaged with the counter roll 3 and is turned around. The extrusion blanks 5 are fed to the hollow spaces 6a, 6b, and the metallic strip 7 as the forming blank is fed to the endless groove 8 of the counter roll 3. The extrusion blanks 5 are pushed by the friction force given from the wall surfaces of the rolls 1, 3, into the gathering chamber 10 formed by the stationary holder 9 and two rolls 1, 3. Under this condition, the extrusion blanks 5 are pressure welded to the surface of the metallic strip 7 as the forming blank being fed to the endless groove 8 of the counter roll 3, and two metallic blanks are extruded through the die 11; hereby, the composite rod material 12 is manufactured.
