Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively avoid a generation of a spurious signal due to the return beam, by applying deflections in a different sensitivity to beams projected to and returned from a target. CONSTITUTION:Between an electron gun 2 and a target 4, that is, at the rear stage of an electrode plate 8 of an electrode G2, a cylindrical auxiliary electrode 13 is provided. Then between the auxiliary electrode 13 and an electrostatic deflection electrode 5 an electrostatic deflection electric field is constructed. Accordingly, a beam 9 projected to the target passes in the cylindrical auxiliary electrode 13 not to be affected by its deflecting action, however, a return beam 10 passes a radial electric field of electrostatic deflection between the auxiliary electrode 13 and the deflection electrode 5 to be deflected toward the outside.
