Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled steel powder advantageously suited as raw powder for sintered machine parts or powder forged parts by containing a specified range of Ni and Cu, and one or more of Mn, Cr, and Mo, as well as a small amount of C, N, Si, and O.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy steel powder includes as each of essential element: Ni: 1.0W2.4wt%, Cu: 0.2W0.7wt%, and (Ni+Cu): 1.5W2.6wt% in the range where thses elements coexist as alloy. In addition to it, the third alloy element contains one or more of Mn in 0.1W0.5wt%, Cr in 0.1W0.7wt%, and Mo in 0.1W 0.8wt%. Furthermore, the composition includes C: 0.05wt% or less, N: 0.015wt% or less, and Si: 0.10wt% or less. This alloy steel powder is excellent in compressibility and moldability, gives a good hardenablity as a sealing material, and provides high strength and tougness to the products.
