Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the sintered steel of high density having high strength, excellent plastic workability and heat-treatment characteristics, by making the Ni- Mo steel contain a specified amount of Mn and Cu.
CONSTITUTION: The Fe powder containing Mn: 0.2W0.5%, Cu powder, Ni powder, Mo powder in the form of Fe-Mo, Mo2C or Mo and C powder, are mixed. The molded product containing Ni: 1.5W2.5%, Mn: 0.05W0.5%, Mo: 0.2W0.8%, Cu: 0.2W0.8% and C: 0W0.8% as the components, is prepared. This product is sintered at 1100W1200°C in the neutral or carburizing atmosphere. The sintered product is heat-treated after the plastic working has been applied to it so as to provide a density above 7.0g/cc. As this heat treatment, any of each heat treatment of carburizing, carbo-nitriding, bright treatment and high-frequency treatment, is carried out.
