Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the sintered steel of high density having high strength, excellent plastic workability and heat-treatment characteristics, by making the Ni- Mo steel contain a specified amount of Mn and Cu.
CONSTITUTION: The Fe powder containing Mn: 0.2W0.5%, Cu powder, Ni powder, Mo powder in the form of Fe-Mo, Mo2C or Mo and C powder, are mixed. The molded product containing Ni: 1.5W2.5%, Mn: 0.05W0.5%, Mo: 0.2W0.8%, Cu: 0.2W0.8% and C: 0W0.8% as the components, is prepared. This product is sintered at 1100W1200°C in the neutral or carburizing atmosphere. The sintered product is heat-treated after the plastic working has been applied to it so as to provide a density above 7.0g/cc. As this heat treatment, any of each heat treatment of carburizing, carbo-nitriding, bright treatment and high-frequency treatment, is carried out. With the above method, the use of the above sintered product of high density and high strength, becomes possible also in the area of mechanical parts
