Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform high-speed efficient plating by carrying out plating by arc discharge in a vacuum atmosphere in the rotating basket of an apparatus provided with moving evaporation sources. CONSTITUTION:Products put into rotating basket 8 in a vacuum vessel are agitated as basket 8 is rotated. When a DC voltage is applied from bearing section 13 of rotating roller 12, a DC minus current is supplied to the products and the products adsorb evaporated substance ions. By applying a DC plus voltage and a DE minus voltage to arc discharge electrodes 4, 5 as evarporation sources, respectively, discharge occurs to evaporate the evaporating substances. When the tips of electrodes 4, 5 are consumed, the gap between electrodes 4, 5 is kept regularly with rollers 6. At the same time, the evaporation sources are laterally moved along guide rail 7 with moving roller 3. Thus, the products in basket 8 are uniformly plated from end to end.
