Abstract

PURPOSE:To sequentially inspect the external surface of cylindrical object in a row, by processing the binary picture element signal output from the binary circuit based on the coordinate set with the coordinate setting means. CONSTITUTION:The edge detection circuit 27 differentiates the binary picture element signal, and stores it in the respective counters for leading and trailing, and when the picture element signal of scanning line includes the leading of the edge, the count is started and the distribution frequency is obtained, it is sequentially compared at the comparators and the address showing a maximum is output respectively. The threshold set circuit 37 stores the bightness of digital video signal at the leading of each edge to the address of memory corresponding to the level to obtain the distribution of frequency and the bright level showing the maximum value is set as new threshold value. This newly binarized signal is input to the processing decision circuit 44, and it is compared with the criteria for propriety. Thus, the external circumference of cylindrical object in a row can accurately and efficiently be inspected sequentially.
