Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a high density carbon molding to be manufactured without using a binder by adding a specified pulverization aid to raw coke followed by pulverization, compacting and calcination.
CONSTITUTION: To raw coke is added at least one of methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and propyl alcohol as a pulverization aid. The coke is then pulverized with a ball mill, a rod mill, a tube mill, a vibration ball mill or a conical mill, compacted without using a binder, and calcined. The volatile component content of the raw coke is ≥5, preferably 10W16%. the amount of the alcohol added is 0.1, preferably 0.5W 7wt% to the amount of the coke. The pulverization is carried out for ≥2, preferably ≥5hr until ≤5W10μ particles or spheres are obtd.
