Abstract

PURPOSE: To purify water by using the artificial charcoal obtained by using charcoal powder as main raw material, adding binder thereto and molding the mixture thence dry distillating the molding.
CONSTITUTION: Charcoal as a main raw material and binder, for the latter of which coal tars, wood tars and their pitch are used, are kneaded then molded and the molding is dry distrilled in a dry distrillating furnace, and this yields the artificial molded charcoal which will not dissolve in water. This is charged into purification tank and in all the structures or vessels in water channels for the purpose of purification of water, whereby the water is purified simultaneously with the force air blowing of suitable amount. This coupled with the supply of a suitable amount of oxygen increase the purification capacity and further enable the charcoal to withstand use sermipermanently.
