Abstract

PURPOSE: A coal, raw material for coke, is mixed with a binder and a porous substance that thermally decomposes to evolve a gas or form carbon, and they are dry distilled, thus enabling the production of coke in spite of using a large amount of usual or low-grade coal.
CONSTITUTION: To a coal, raw material for coke, are added 1W10vol% of a solve substance or their mixture selected from substances evolving a gas when thermally decompose as various kind of synthetic resins (polystyrene, foamed polystyrene) or porous substances that forms carbon when thermally decompose as saw dusts, and they are compressed to give forms. They are dry distilled alone or in the combination with other coal, thus producing coke by utilizing a large amount of inexpensive raw materials as usual or low grade coal and cheap carbon source.
