Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the sensible heat of the exhaust gases from a sintering machine and a cooler to perform effectively the heat recovery, by charging a raw material, with a powder coke layer laid in its lower part, into a sintering machine and sintering the raw material to raise the temperature of the exhaust gases from a sintering machine and a cooler.
CONSTITUTION: Floor covering over 14 are first charged into the pallet 12 of a sintering machine 1, and then a powder coke layer is laid thereupon and finally raw material for sintering 15 is charged on the coke layer. The appropriate amount of the coke is 2W20kg, based on 1ton of the raw material for sintering. Subsequently, the charged raw material for sintering is ignited in its surface by igniton furnace 2 and transferred toward ore-discharging section 3 sucking in air from below. In the meanwhile, the raw material is sintered by the combustion of the powder coke containing it and goes down to grate bar 13 until the sintering reaction is finished. In the sintering process, the combustion of layer 16 raises rapidly the temperature of the sucked gas and exhaust gas to 400°C or higher. The hot exhaust gas is sent to heat recovery unit 10 to recover the heat. Sintered ore after the completion of sintering which is reheated by the exhaust gas to have a high temperature is fed to a cooler 7, and the exhaust gas from the cooler is also cooled by unit 10 to recover the heat.
