Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled glass vessel with high resistance to external force such as contact and an impact by allowing a glass vessel to retain a compressive stress layer having a larger stress value on the inner surface than a compressive stress layer on the outer surface.
CONSTITUTION: When a compressive stress layer is provided to the surface of a glass vessel especially having ≤2.4mm average glass thickness at the body by ion exchange treatment to manufacture a tempered glass vessel, an alkali salt is applied to the inner surface of the vessel in an amount larger than the amount to the outer surface, and ion exchange treatment is carried out, or the stress layer is controlled by a special heat treating method to allow the vessel to retain a compressive stress layer having a larger stress value on the inner surface than a compressive stress layer on the outer surface. The special heat treating method includes heat treatment at a temp. 15W85°C below the glass strain point combined with heat treatment at a temp. 15°C below the glass strain point W a temp. 30°C above the strain point.
