Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled container with increased abrasion and internal pressure resistances by forming the 1st compressive stress layers on the inner and outer surfaces of a glass container by rapid cooling and by superposing the 2nd compressive stress layer with a higher ion exchange rate on the outer surface and the 3rd compressive stress layer with a lower ion exchange rate on the inner surface.
CONSTITUTION: This glass container holds a double layer consisting of the 1st compresive stress layer provided by rapid cooling and the 2nd compressive stress layer with a relatively high stress value provided by ion exchange on the outer surface and a double layer consisting of the 1st compressive stress layer provided by rapid cooling and the 3rd compressive stress layer with a relatively low stress value provided by ion exchange on the inner surface. For example, a container made of soda lime silica glass is provided with 100W750kg/cm2 compressive stress at the inner and outer surfaces by rapid cooling, and after sticking much K salt to the outer surface and a litte K salt to the inner surface, the container is heat treated. This container has superior abrasion resistance to external force such as contact and an impact at the outer surface and superior internal pressure resistance to an increase in the pressure.
