Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate the titled compound useful as a heat-resistant refrigerant or an intermediate for the organic synthesis readily, by reacting a chlorosilane with cupric fluoride to deposit by-products with certainty.
CONSTITUTION: A chlorosilane or formula I (R is H or monofunctional hydrocarbon group; n is an integer 1W5; m is a positive integer ≥1; however, m≤2n+2) is reacted with cupric fluoride of formula II in a solvent, e.g. ether, at 0°C to room temperature under atmospheric pressure to give a fluorosilane of formula III. Copper chloride formed as a by-product and contained in the reaction mixture can be completely deposited by adding a hydrocarbon solvent, e.g. pentane, thereto.
EFFECT: The fluorination is preferentially carried out with little influence of water even by using dihydrate of CuF2 directly. The H-Si bond in the starting raw material chlorosilane will reamin as it is without the cleavage thereof.
