Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a liq. crystal display panel of high quality in which liq. crystal molecules orient uniformly and stably by forming a BT resin film on the surface of each substrate having an electrode and by rubbing the film in a fixed direction. CONSTITUTION:BT resin, a thermosetting resin consisting of triazine and bismaleide is used. A soln. of the BT resin is coated onto a glass substrate 1 having a transparent electrode pattern 2 and cured by heating to about 300 deg.C to form a BT resin film 3 having about 300-2,000Angstrom thickness. The film 3 is rubbed several- several 10 times in a fixed direction with a brush, cloth or the like made of fiber of cotton, polyester or the like to perform processing for ofientation. The substrates 1, 1' thus processed are set opposite to each other with the film surfaces inward so that the rubbing directions meet at right angles, a liq. crystal 4 is held between them, and polarizing plates are placed on both sides to manufacture a twist type liq. crystal display panel.
