Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the disposal performance of an aeration vessel without quality deterioration of disposed water, by combining an eddy current type solid-liquid separation to the disposal of waste water by deep layer aeration.
CONSTITUTION: A deep layer aerating apparatus comprising a liquid-ascending part 1 and a liquid-descending part 2 and having a depth of 5m or more, is provided with a head tank 4 and an eddy current type solid-liquid separator 5. Sewage mixed with active sludge is aerated by bubbles supplied from an air blower in the aerating vessel, flows upwards through the ascending part 1, and falls downwards through the descending part 2 in a cycling manner. In this process, the contained bubbles are separated from the water at a head tank part 4, to stabilize the cyclic disposal by eliminating the ascending tendency of the descending flow derived from the bubbles. In the solid-liquid separator 5 for the treated water, the ascending or descending flow of the sludge-contng. water is formed from the center to the periphery or from the periphery to the center at the water level, and from the center to the periphery at the bottom position of the vessel, to enhance the separation effect of floating substances from precipitating substances.
