Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently separate oil content and organic pollutants from waste water, by letting active sludge adsorb most of the oil content, separating the mixture into the active sludge and the waste water, and then aerobically biologically purifying the separated waste water.
CONSTITUTION: Oil-contng. waste water W1 is introduced into a catalytic adsorption vessel 1, where the waste water is mixed with and brought into contact with oil content-decomposing active sludge S1 to separate fine oil drops suspended in the waste water by adsorption. The mixture of the sludge and the primary purified waste water is introduced into a sedimentation vessel 2 and separated into a sludge phase S1 and a water phase W2. The active sludge S1 is extracted through the bottom of the sedimentation vessel 2 and transfered into an aeration vessel 3, where the sludge is aerated by blowing air A, while supplementing a nutritious agent N, to form active sludge bacteria having oil content-decomposing ability. The waste water W2 flowing out of the sedimentation vessel 2 is fed into a biolochemical purifier 4 using water-soluble organic substance, where a little amount of oil remaining in the waste water is aerobically decomposed in company with the water-soluble organic substance. The purified water W3 is drained outside the system.
