Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a press forming die of good slippery characteristic with metallic blank materials and of high strength by forming a synethtic resin-coated layer contg. cast iron powder on the surface of the press die in contact with the metallic blank material of the surface of the press die.
CONSTITUTION: Any synthetic resin which exhibits cold or thermosetting characteristic may be used and it is more preferable to add a hardener. The hardener varies with the kinds of synthetic resins. As a filler, cast iron powder, that is, iron powder contg. graphite is added, and in general, the one contg. about ≥0.5wt% graphite is used. The grain sizes of cast iron powder are preferably about ≤100 meshes, and are selected within the range of about 10W50vol% based on 100vol% of the synthetic resin. The thickness of the resin layer is about ≤50mm and more preferably about ≤10mm. It is applied on at least the part to be put in contact with blank material under high pressure. ordinarily used fillers and other special additives can be added together with the cast iron powder denpending upon applications.
