Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable output powers to be taken out evenly from two output shafts by a method wherein two pistons are oppositely placed in one cylinder, the space between the two pistons is used as a combustion chamber, and the pistons are synchronized with each other through a synchronizing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:An ignition plug 2, an intake valve 3 and an exhaust valve 4 are provided at the central part of the cylinder 1, and the two pistons 5, 6 are oppositely placed in the cylinder 1 in a slidable manner on opposite sides of the central part. Crack chambers 8, 9 are provided at the end parts of the cyinder 1, with crank shafts 10, 11 rotatably supported in a manner of piercing through the chambers 8, 9 respectively. The pistons 5, 6 are connected to the crankshafts 10, 11 through connecting rods 14, 15 respectively, and the crankshafts 10, 11 are connected with each other through the synchronizing mechanism 16 such as a chain or a gearing, enabling the pistons 5, 6 to be moved synchronously.
