Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin battery, by using a lithium nitride thin film formed by a specific method as solid electrolyte and lithium as negative active material. CONSTITUTION:Lithium is used for negative active material, a lithium nitride thin film formed by evaporation or spattering for solid electrolyte, and a tungsten bronze type compound such as tungsten trioxide, molybdenum trioxide, vanadium pentaoxide, 3.8 vanadium oxide, into which compounds lithium ions penetrated, for positive active material, and these elements are laminated in this order to form a battery. The thickness of the solid electrolyte thin film is 0.03-0.5mum, evaporation is conducted in an atmosphere of nitrogen of 10<-4>-10<-5> Torr, and spattering in an atmosphere of nitrogen and argon of 10<-4>-10<-5> Torr. A lithium thin film formed by evaporation or spattering is preferably used as the negative electrode, and a sintered polycrystalline material or thin film formed by evaporation or spattering as the positive electrode. Thus a thin battery with thin laminated layers can be obtained.
