Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a solid-electrolyte battery which has a long period of durability and can be made thin, by employing a positive active material made of a chalcogenide of a transition metal. CONSTITUTION:A lithium metal 8 as a negative electrode is affixed to a nickel thin- plate 9 through electrodeposition, and a solid-electrolyte layer 7 made of lithium- nitride film is formed over the lithium metal 8 through electroposition. A positive active-material film 6, and a positive collector 5 made of a nickel metal-film are affixed over the layer 7, in that order, through electrodeposition to form a generation element. Next, the generation element is placed in an exterior can 11, with a Teflon packing 10 interposed between the element and the can 11. An upper part 3 of the exterior can is placed over the element with a Teflon film 4 interposed between the element and the part 3, before the can 11 and the part 3 are welded, thus a hermetically sealed solid-electrolyte battery being constituted. A positive lead terminal 1 is drawn out of a hermetic sealing part 2. For the positive active material, a chalcogenide of a transition metal should be used; the chalcogenide is a compound which consists of a transition metal M, such as Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo or W, and not less than one element of chalcogens X, S, Se and Te, and is represented as MX2, and it has a layerlike crystal structure.
