Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the charging efficiency and prevent air pollution due to ozone by mainly installing an insulating endless belt having >=10<10>OMEGA.cm specific resistance and a contact charger charging the belt with electricity with polarity reverse to the polarity of toner particles forming a toner image. CONSTITUTION:Transferring belt 23 is made of insulating film such as polyester film having >=10<10>OMEGA.cm specific resistance. Contact charger 31 applying a voltage with polarity reverse to the polarity of toner particles to belt 23 is installed in the vicinity of following roller 20. Since the insulating endless belt having >=10<10>OMEGA.cm specific resistance is charged with electricity with polarity reverse to the polarity of toner particles forming a toner image by means of the contact charger, by grounding rollers running the endless belt, the charging efficiency is enhanced furthermore, and the generation of ozone is reduced to prevent the pollution of the air and the apparatus.
