Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent hot steam from being flowed into a condenser so as not to break the condenser by a method wherein a bypass valve is closed when a water pressure in a temperature reducer in a bypass line does not increase up to a predetermined pressure within a desired period of time.
CONSTITUTION: When a load is shut off under an occurrence of some troubles in the power system, the adjustor valve 4 is abruptly closed in response to the shut-off signal and at the same time the bypass valve 7 is abruptly opened, the steam is flowed finto the bypass line 6 without passing through the steam turbine 2 in the major line 1. The valve 12 for use in feeding cooling water to be injected against the steam from the temperature sensor 10 is abruptly opened in response to a signal 14 for initiating a released bypass valve 7, the control device 13 is reset under an acceptance of the signal 14 to detect the pressure signal 15 of the temperature sensor 10. When the pressure is not increased over a desired value in a predetermined period of time after reseting operation, the abrupt closing signal 16 is produced at the bypass valve 7 so as to prevent a large volume of hot steam from being flowed into the condenser 3 and then the condenser 3 is protected.
