Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the stress concentration at a peculiar part, and to improve the allowable load of the rolling mill on the whole, by suitably tightening the longitudinal posts of the housing perpendicularly to them, parallely to the pass line, and in the direction wherein two posts mutually approach. CONSTITUTION:Between a couple of housing posts 1 of the mill housing for holding the rolling rolls, a tightening device 9' is installed for tightening them perpendicularly to their longitude; this tightening device 9' applies the tightening force to the housing posts 1 in the direction wherein they mutually approach. This tightening force is given by a hydraulic cylinder 13 whose force is controlled by the servovalve 14. The servovalve 14 is controlled by an electric signal produced from the controller 16 being inputted with the rolling reaction, the stress generating at the housing corner, and the load to be impressed upon the outside of the housing corner, etc., respectively measured during the rolling work proceeds.
