Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the sealing capability and sealing stability and decrease the frictional force by a construction wherein a large number of screw shape dents are provided on the tubular surface being disposed at the back part constituting a sliding seal surface, and the peripheral side parts of the dents are placed on the extension of the tubular surface.
CONSTITUTION: The tubular surface 7, which is tilted at free state, is provided at the inner periphery 6 of a seal lip 5. A large number of the screw shape dents 10 are provided midway between the front part 8 and the rear part 9 of the tubular surface 7. Both of the peripheral sides of the dents 10 are positioned on the extension of the tubular surface 7 and the inner peripheral edge of the seal lip is pressed against a shaft 12 by a spring 4. According to the construction described above, the sealing action of the tubular surface 7 and the screw pump action of the dents are surely displayed. Further, the sealing liquid intruding into the dents 10 is presses by wedge action in the surface 13 of the peripheral side parts of the dents of raise the pressure of the liquid film contacting with the surface 13 and improve the lubricating property thereat.
