Abstract

PURPOSE: To give a suitable contact pressure to the slide surface, to reduce wear, to prevent seizure, and decrease friction, on a sealed shaft by increasing flexibility of a seal lip.
CONSTITUTION: The seal lip 1 is made circular, is inserted into a supporting ring 2 and is pressed by a holding ring 3 on the supporting ring 2. The seal lip 1 has an arc form, its internal circumference is pressed tightly on the shaft 4 to form a sealed slide surfaced S. The external circumference of the supporting ring 2 is pressed by force in a casing 5, and a spring ring 6 compresses the seal lip 1 on the shaft 4 by its compressive force to increase the contact pressure with the sealed slide surface S. Cavities 8 are provided on a plurality of places on the surface 7 of the reverse side of the sealed slide surface S of the seal lip 1. This seal lip is easy to deform and can have a large follow-up performance to the shaft 4 also by increasing its flexibility.
