Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture sodium hydrogencarbonate having superior fluidity and an arbitrary grain size by reacting crystals of sodium carbonate hydrate or sodium sesquicarbonate with gaseous CO2 or a CO2 -contg. gas in the presence of water stuck to the crystals.
CONSTITUTION: Crystals of sodium carbonate monohydrate or sodium sesquicarbonate are put into a rotary cylindrical reactor, and water is sprayed to stick 0.5W 45wt% water to the crystal surfaces. Gaseous CO2 or a CO2-contg. gas is then introduced and reacted with the crystals at 0W80°C to form sodium hydrogencarbonate. By controlling the steam content and temp. of the introduced gaseous CO2 or CO2-contg. gas, heat of the reaction forming sodium hydrogencarbonate is effectively utilized to keep the reaction temp. at 0W80°C. Thus, sodium hydrogencarbonate having superior fluidity and an arbitrary grain size is manufactured.
