Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a sintered body with high hardness and supeior wear resistance by adding a specified part of boron to starting materials for a sintered body contg. a specified percentage of boron nitride of high pressure phase, a ceramic substance and metal.
CONSTITUTION: Boron is added to a composition contg. 10W80vol% boron nitride of high pressure phase, 19W80vol% one or more kinds of ceramic substances selected from the carbides, nitrides and borides of the IVa and Va group metals and 1W30vol% metal. The amount of the boron added is 10W300pts.vol. to 100pts.vol. of said metal. The boron-added composition is then sintered. The boron nitride is of wurtzite type or cubic system. The ceramic substances are selected from the carbides, nitrides and borides of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb and Ta. One or more among Mg Al, Si, Cu, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni etc. are used as the metal.
