Abstract
PURPOSE: To accelerate the rapid formation of a melt and enable an increase of the Al2O3 content of sintered ore by controlling the Al2O3 and SiO2 contents of the fine powdered part of a predetermined grain size or below in blended starting material.
CONSTITUTION: Blended starting material contg. ≤5.4wt% SiO2 as the SiO2 content of sintered ore and contg. a fine grain part of <1mm grain size by ≥25wt% is prepared, and the SiO2 and Al2O3 contents of the material are held so as to increase the SiO2 content of the fine powdered part of <0.25mm grain size in the material and reduce the Al2O3 content. That is, the amount of SiO2 contained in said powdered part is adjusted to 0.85wt% of the total amount of the components constituting the blended starting material, and the weight ratio of Al2O3/SiO2 to ≤0.25. The material is then sintered. As a result, using ore with high Al2O3 content, sintered ore with low SiO2 content is obtd. without lowering the quality and productivity of the sintered ore.
