Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain die cast products of less gaseous residual and high quality by starting the evacuation of dies first at a low degree of vacuum from near the part where a plunger tip closes the pouring port of an injection sleeve in the low-speed injection stroke of a cold chamber die casting machine, and increasing the degree of vacuum to higher degrees from the vicinity of the part shifting into high-speed injection stroke.
CONSTITUTION: With dies held clamped and a valve 12 held open, molten steel is supplied through the molten metal pouring port 5 of an injection sleeve 4, and an injection cylinder 6 is operated to advance an injection plunger 7. When a plunger tip 8 closes the port 5, a striker 9 actuates a limit switch LS-1 for starting primary evacuation, thence a vacuum pump 19 is run to create a low degree of vacuum in the cavity 3. As the plunger 7 advances, a limit switch LS-2 for starting secondary evacuation is actuated and a vacuum pump 22 is run to evacuate the cavity 3 inside to a high vacuum. High-speed injection is accomplished by a limit switch LS-3 for high-speed injection.
