Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform filling of molten metal quickly and smoothly and improve quality by letting the air in the cavity escape into the atmosphere through extruding pin holes.
CONSTITUTION: At the time when the molten metal 6 in a sleeve 4 is to be pushed by a piston 5 for injection into a cavity 3 constituted by die-casting dies 1 and 2, extruding pins 7 are kept retreated until the piston 5 starts moving or just before the molten metal reaches the extruding pin holes 10 even if the piston begins to move. Then, the product part 3 and the extruding pin holes 10 and air escape holes 8 are communicated and the air pressure in the cavity 3 is kept equal to the atmospheric pressure, thus the molten metal 6 is pushed into the cavity 3 by the small kinetic energy of the piston 5. Just before the molten metal 6 reaches the extruding pin holes 10, the pins 7 are advanced by a cylinder 9 so that the pins 7 are maintained in the normal positions of the pin holes 10 at the time when the molten metal 6 reaches the pin holes 10.
