PURPOSE: To make possible the constant-volume feeding of molten metal and its even pressing and stabilize casting by providing plungers which may be communicated to the atmosphere to the upper part of the cavity of a lower plunger pressure casting machine.
CONSTITUTION: Upon completion of die clamping of dies 2, 3, molten metal 12 is supplied into a sleeve 9 by way of feed pipe 11. At this time, upper pressure plungers 23, 23' exist above gas vent and pressure holes 24, 24' and gas vent holes 22, 22' and the cavity 1 is open to the atmosphere. Hence, the molten metal 12 does not receive back pressure and its fixed volume is supplied into the sleeve 9. After this, the lower pressure plunger 10 forces up the molten metal 12 into the cavity 1. When the cavity 1 inside becomes nearly full, upper cylinders 21, 21' are operated by the signal so that the upper plungers 23, 23' press the molten cooperatively with the lower plunger 10.
