Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an image free from an edge effect by subjecting a photoreceptor to primary charging at positive polarity by means of a corona charger while uniformly irradiating the photoreceptor with red light and then exposing the photoreceptor through a dichromatic original in 4 modes in the midst of secondary charging at the reverse polarity to the primary charging. CONSTITUTION:The photoreceptor having two photoconductive layers on electrically conductive substrate 1C is charged positively and uniformly by means of corona charger 2 while being uniformly irradiated with red light LR. In the midst of secondary charging by means of charger 3 with the reverse polarity, the secondary charging is synchronized with exposure. Both the processes are started simultaneously to finish the exposure before the charging, the exposure is started after the charging to finish both the processes simultaneously, or the charging is started before the exposure and finished after the exposure. Dichromatic development is then carried out, and by uniform charging at predetermined polarities and transfer at the reverse polarities an image free from an edge effect is obtd.
