Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase a bypass energization capacity of a thyristor rectifier by firing a bypass thyristor when the excitation of a field winding is stopped and then firing all the thyristors of the rectifier. CONSTITUTION:When a generator is operating, a thyristor rectifier 5 is controlled by the output of an automatic voltage regulator 8. In order to stop the excitation of the field winding 1F of the generator, a power source breaker 6 is first opened. Thus, a reverse voltage is generated in the field winding 1F, and when the reverse voltage becomes higher than set value of an automatic firing circuit 11, a bypass thyristor 10 is fired. After the breaker is completely opened, a fire signal is applied to all the thyristors of the rectifier 5 by a special commutation pulse generator 12. Thus, the bypass energization capacity can be increased.
