Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce start current and improve reliability as well as control heat generation by connecting two main windings in series at start and in parallel after start.
CONSTITUTION: The switch S1 closes at start and the main windings W1 and W2 are connected in series. When the switch S1 closes, current is applied to the main windings W1 and W2 and the start winding W3 and the motor M starts. After the motor M starts, the switch S1 opens. Then, the switches S2 and S3 close and the main windings W1 and W2 are connected in parallel. When the r.p.m. of the motor M reaches the specified value, the switch S4 opens and the start winding W3 is released.
