Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the necessity of increasing the capacity of a generator by starting the excitation of the generator after connecting the generator to a transformer to thereby reduce the excitation rush current of the transformer.
CONSTITUTION: When the rotating speed of a generator 1 reaches, for example, 95% of the maximum speed to become possible to generate a current, a breaker 11 is closed and breakers 12 to 14 at the primary side of transformers 21 to 23, respectively are subsequently closed. Then, field switch 2 is closed on the condition that all the breakers 11 to 14 are closed to start the excitation of the generator 1 so as to thus establish a voltage. Thus, since the voltage is gradually raised after the transformers 21 to 23 are connected at low voltage state, it can reduce the excitation rush current to thereby eliminate the necessity of increasing the capacity of the generator even in case where a load is existed at the transformer.
