Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce electric power consumption for a single-phase induction motor, by providing the second two parallel windings partially in a main winding and using the second windings connected in series when a small amount of compressing power is required.
CONSTITUTION: At room heating operation, interlocking switches 16, 17 are selected to terminals a, a', then the second two windings 14 and 15 are connected in parallel to each other and in series to a main winding 13, thus a large amount of output can be obtained for the operation. While at room cooling operation, the main winding 13 and its connected two second windings 14 and 15 are all connected in series by selecting the switch 17 to a terminal b'. As a result, a total number of turns of the main winding is increased by the number of turns of the second winding 14 or 15, then torque of a single-phase induction motor can be reduced to torque meeting power for the room cooling operation, thus consumption of electric power can be reduced.
