Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the life by reducing the flow sectional area from the upper stream to the down stream so that a fluid oxidizing agent and fuel touch with the back of electrode evenly. CONSTITUTION:A fuel cell device is constituted by layer-building a plurality of unit cells X. The unit cell X is provided on both side of a matrix 1 impregnated with an electrolyte and constituted of porous metal, electrodes 2, 3 to which a catalyst is added are provided, and plates 4, 5 are provided on back sides of both electrodes 2, 3. A groove 16 is provided on electrode side surfaces of the plates 4, 5 to serve as flow paths Y, Y' for a fluid fuel and fluid oxidizing agent. The groove 16 provided on the plates 4, 5 is formed so that the flow sectional area of the groove is decreasing from the fluid inlet P i.e. upper stream side to the outlet Q i.e. down stream in a prescribed proportion to even a partial pressure of the reaction gas and to even the catalytic reaction throughout the electrodes 2, 3.
