On the other hand, when error detecting and checking circuit 117 is checked, a check bit set by CPU100 is latched in write check bit register 112 and selected by circuit 114 to be sent to memory 200, and data is supplied via register 11. Then, the check bit and read data read out of memory 200 are applied to circuit 117 via check bit register 115 and read data register 116, so that the error correcting circuit will be checked in a state similar to normal memory access.
