Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool the rotating plate, which is the main heat generating element, from both sides and to increase the cooling effect for subject eddy current brake by a method wherein a ventilating device is provided to the rotating plate facing to the field on the fixing side in such manner that the cooling air is blown from one side to the other side making a curve. CONSTITUTION:The rotating plate 2 is formed by bonding a hysteresis magnetic plate 4 and a conductive plate 5 together, the plate 2 is faced to the field 6 through the intermediary of the first void 7 as well as to a magnetic member 11 through the intermediary of the second void 12. The magnetic member 11 is fixed to the field 6 through a nonmagnetic member 12. Then, a ventilating groove 11a to be used for induction of cooling air is formed on the member 13, a vane 3b is formed on a boss 3 for the purpose of fixing the rotary shaft 1 on the rotating plate 2 and cooling air paths a-c penetrating to the ventilating groove 3a on the boss section 3 in such manner that the paths are making curve from one side of the rotating plate 2 toward the other side. Through these procedures, usage of said device at high frequency is enabled with a high responsiveness.
