Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of a brushless synchronous machine by building the titled machine in the synchronous machine body of an exciter having an AC exciter and its rotary rectifier, cooling it partly with cooling gas for the main body and thereby enhancing the reliability and eliminating the cooler exclusive for the exciter. CONSTITUTION:An AC exciter armature 16 is mounted on a rotary shaft 10 within a main synchronous machine protecting cover 24, and an AC exciter field core 23 is disposed at the inner periphery of a magnet frame 25 confronted with the armature 16. A rotary rectifier 5 having a fan 27 is provided between the AC exciter and the main synchronous machine rotor, and are connected electrically with connecting copper bands 25 and 28, respectively. Cooling air cooled by the cooler 32 is introduced from an air passage 33 along the guide plate 34 to the AC exciter and the rotary rectifier, thereby cooling them and thereafter coolig the armature and the field of the main synchronous machine.
