Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the position of a probe for ultrasonic wave, by adding an address symbol specifying the address and marking a symbol for the position in the address of which width changes continuously, near the said address symbol and by reading them by an optical detector. CONSTITUTION:Sheet for position measuring 1 is put on and fixed to the surface of material 2 to be checked, and ultrasonic flaw detecting head 7 is brought into contact with the suface of sheet 1 and is moved along the surface to detect flaws. The width of address symbol 4 across measure range A of optical detector 9 of head 7 is decided to detect address 5, where probe 8 is placed, by position analyzing device 15. The position of probe 8 in the (x) direction in address 5 is decided by distance l1 from one end of measure range A to the line of the edge of address symbol 4, and the position of probe 8 in the (y) direction is measured by detecting widths l2 and l3 of symbol 6 for the position in the address across measure range A. As a result, the position of the ultrasonic probe is measured with a high precision.
