Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the height of internal-surface reinforcement of weld continuously and automatically by processing signals obtained by a weld-zone probe and a base-material-part probe and the external picture signal of a weld zone obtained by irradiating it with slit light slantingly. CONSTITUTION:On a measurement table movable freely along a plane perpendicular to a weld line, a detector for the distance between the measurement table and a welded material, probes measuring the thicknesses of a base material and the weld zone, a slit light source irradiating a measurement point with light slantingly, and an image pickup device picking up its image are fitted. For the purpose, signals from the probes and image pickup device are processed to measure the height of reinforcement of weld of the internal-surface automatically. For example, the probes 20 and 24 for the base material and weld zone, the distance detector 12, the slit light source 29, and the image pickup device 27 are fitted on the measurement table 3 movable freely in the plane perpendicular to the weld line 2 of the measured material 1, and on the basis of their signals, the measurement table 3 is moved to the best position to measure the weld zone, base material and the height of external reinforcement of weld, which are processed to obtain the height of reinforcement of weld of the internal-surface.
