Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect, with excellent S/N ratio, flaws in the form of surface-layer cracks of a material having wave-form concavo-convexes on the surface to be detected by arranging appropriately two coils having linear conductor side parts. CONSTITUTION:The device is constituted by plane coils 1 and 2 formed of two square-loop coils having equal elements, and the linear conductor side parts 1a and 2a of each coil are arranged longitudinally in such a manner that they are lined up on a straight line B at a prescribed interval. While this positional relation between the coils 1 and 2 being kept unchanged, the parts 1a and 2a are opposed to the surface 3a to be detected of a material 3 to be inspected and further the sweeping direction of the coils 1 and 2 or the moving direction A of the material 3 to be inspected is made parallel with the straight line B. The difference in the change of impedance between the coils 1 and 2 caused by the flaws is taken out effectively without being offset.
