Abstract
PURPOSE: To control adhesion of scale simply and economically by applying electric current to sea water supplied, through positive and negative electrodes installed on the sea water supply system of the conversion equipment of an immersed tube type vacuum evaporation system.
CONSTITUTION: Sea water 11 is supplied to the lower part of a casing 1 through a condensation tube 3 and a supply tube 8. Since the pressure in the casing is reduced, if warm water 10 is let flow in an evaporation heat transmission tube 2, sea water in contact with the tube 2 boils vigorously. The water vapor thus generated goes up to the upper part of the casing, cooled by the tube 3 and condenses. The condensed liquid 12 is collected in a condensing tray 4 and taken out from an outlet 5. Necessary number of pair of positive and negative electrodes 13, 14 are installed at a place where it comes in contact with the condensed sea water 11 near the tube 2, that is, the bottom of the casing. When weak current is applied between the electrode 13, 14, the sea water 11 is subjected to weak electrolysis and pH of the sea water near the electrode 14 becomes about 10. Then, hardly soluble flocks consisting of Mg(OH)2, CaCO3 etc. are formed and condensed and adhesion to the tube 2 can be controlled.
