Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly corrosion resistant film in a short time by painting an inorganic zinc rich primer and after drying by heating, applying a coat of final paint at a prescribed temperature condition of the film.
CONSTITUTION: An inorganic zinc rich primer having an alkali silicate as a binder and metallic zinc powder as a rust preventive pigment is coated on an ocean container etc. and set at room temperature. The undried film is heated to prescribed temperature, for instance 20W120°C and thereby the solvent is evaporated forcibly to make a porous film having numerous channels of various size that extend from the deep part to the surface. Then, final coating paint of organic resin such as epoxy group etc. is coated on the surface of the film when the film is in a prescribed temperature condition, for instance at 20W120°C. In this way, air contained in the cavities of said primer is quenched and the final coating paint is drawn in and impregnate the cavities to strengthen the film.
