Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance a methane fermentation efficiency while avoiding an outflow of an undigested liquid, by operating a drain control valve, a water-return control valve and a pump in combination with a level gauge and a total organic carbon- measuring device in a methane fermentation apparatus provided with a supplemental tank.
CONSTITUTION: A methane fermentation apparatus involves a fermentation vessel 1 provided with vertically movable covered pipes 12W15. A level gauge 21 for detecting a reference value A of a surface level and a total organic carbon-measuring device 22 for detecting a COD concentration of a liquid 17, are arranged in an overflow pipe 20. An ordinary-opened drain control valve 23, a pump 24 and an ordinary-opened water-return control valve 25 are arranged in such a manner that the valves 23, 25 are opened or closed corresponding to the operations of the level gauge 20 and the measuring device 22. In case where the liquid 17 is discharged through the overflow pipe 20 without using a generated gas, the level gauge 21 and the measuring device 22 detect the situation, the valves 23, 25 are closed, the pump 24 is operated and the liquid 17 is reserved in a supplemental tank 16. Consequently, a methane fermentation is facilitated at a high efficiency, while the outflow of an undigested liquid is avoided.
