Abstract
PURPOSE: To crush scum without use of expensive energy, by dividing the interior of a main vessel body into an upper liquid-reserving chamber and a lower fermenting chamber provided with a check valve by a partition wall, and arranging a transferring line from the lower portion of the fermenting chamber to the liquid-reserving chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Fermentable liquid charged into a material-charge pipe 8 flows from the bottom opening 8a into the first zone 13 of a fermenting chamber 4, pushes the check valve 10 of an opening 11 provided with the check valve open, and flows into the second zone 14 and then the third zone 15 in succession. Methane gas generated inside the fermenting chamber 4 stays at its roof portion, and pushes away the fermenting liquid corresponding to the volume occupied by the methane gas. In this way, the fermenting liquid in the zone 15 is pushed upwards through a transferring line 6 into a liquid-reserving chamber 3. The fermenting liquid in the zones 13, 14 pushes the check valve 10 open and moves to the zone 14, 15 at the side of the transferring line 6. The fermenting liquid is then pushed upwards through the transferring line 6 into the liquid-reserving chamber 3. A part of scum is crushed by the movement of the fermenting liquid in this way.
