Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the lubricating property of an anodic oxide film, by a method wherein after anodizing Al or Al alloy, electrolysis is conducted in an electrolyte containing a salt of a thio acid of metals as a main constituent, followed by a further surface treatment with a lubricating substance.
CONSTITUTION: Al or Al alloy is anodized to form a porous anodic oxide film thereon. The anodized body is subjected to the electrolysis in an electrolytic bath containing a salt of a thio acid of metals such as thiomolybdic acid, thiotungstic acid or thiostannic acid as a main constituent, whereby a metal sulfide is deposited in the micropores of the oxide film. The body is washed with water, is dried and the surface thereof is treated with a lubricating substance. Accordingly, the synergistic effect of the metal sulfide and the lubricating substance both contained in the oxide film enhances the lubricating property of the film.
