Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the mesh clogging of a cleaner for removing carbon from exhaust gas, by introducing fuel into the front portion of the cleaner to burn up the carbon. CONSTITUTION:A cleaner A is provided in the exhaust section of an engine. A cylinder 8, which is opened toward an exhaust gas inlet port 7a, is located in the housing 7 of the cleaner concentrically with the housing. A stainless steel net 12 which is secured by a ring stay 11, glass wool 13 which is a carbon particle collector means and an oxidizing catalyst are provided in the cylinder 8. A communication pipe 8a, which is opened into the atmosphere, is connected to the downstream side of the cylinder 8. An injection nozzle 9 is provided in the front portion of the cylinder 8 to inject fuel from a tank 18 through a pump 17 and a valve 16 if necessary.
