Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive to burn the components caught by a filter and facilitate the regeneration of the filter by a method wherein the clogging of the filter in a particulate impurities catcher provided in an exhaust pipe is automatically detected and a high-temperature gas generated by a flame generator is introduced into the exhaust pipe. CONSTITUTION:A filter-type catcher 4 placed in the exhaust pipe 3 for an internal-combustion engine cleans the exhaust gas by catching the particulate impurities in the exhaust gas, for example, carbon when the gas passes therethrough. In such a device, an exhaust pressure sensor 5 is placed on the upstream of the catcher 4 to enable to detect a pressure rise occurring in the exhaust pipe 3 due to the clogging of the filter in the catcher 4. When an output is generated from the sensor 5, a fuel pump 8 for the flame generator and a heater of a heater-fitted burner nozzle 9 are operated so that a fuel in a fuel tank 11 is ejected into the pipe 3 through the nozzle 9 and is burned, and the components caught by the filter are reburned by the high-temperature gas formed by the combustion of the fuel.
